Was he having a bad day and cut on the wrong side of the line? This might change the pitch to 11.8 or 12.2. And on a triangle, that eighth of an inch cut might be 2 or more inches on a measure. Another consideration, did the framer have a beer in his hand when he cut the rafters? Or should he have had a beer to make the cuts more accurate? Or did Home Depot sell him straight as a snake lumber? Hmmm...
